Wells H. Keddie Scholarship

The Wells H. Keddie Scholarship is awarded annually in honor of Wells Hamilton Keddie, who was a labor and social justice educator and activist. Professor Emeritus of Labor Studies at Rutgers University's School of Management and Labor Relations, Wells was a stalwart in the Rutgers faculty union, a joint affiliate of the American Association of University Professors and American Federation of Teachers, serving in virtually every leadership capacity, including several terms as President. Wells H. Keddie died suddenly at his home in Piscataway, NJ on April 1, 2006. He is survived by his wife Mary Gibson, daughter Heather S. Keddie, son Hamilton Keddie, brother Douglas Keddie, grandchildren, great grandchildren, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Wells H. Keddie Scholarship Details

The deadline for applying for the 2012 Wells H. Keddie Scholarship will be February 17, 2012.

The scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student who:

  • is expected to have earned a total of 60-90 credits by June of the semester preceding the fellowship (normally a Junior)
  • is enrolled in any of the Rutgers Undergraduate Colleges
  • combines solid scholarship with social activism

Past winners in biomedical engineering include Madhuri Tirumandas in 2011, James Hughes in 2010, and Stephanie Loh in 2009.
